Concert by the Fiat Cantus Ensemble

February 11th, 2016

Les jeunes de St Jean de Passy soutiennent les enfants de Nambikkay

Created in 1997 by the conductor Pasale Jeandroz, the vocal ensemble Fiat Cantus now has around thirty amateur choristers, brought together by a choirmaster, a pianist and a professional vocal coach.

Given over firstly to exploring the german romantic repertoire (Schumann, Brahms, Reinberger) and the impressionist repertoire of France and England (Poulenc, Vaughn Williams, Debussy), the ensemble is now beginning to explore contemporary music, working on several works by French-Ukranien composer Dimitri Tchesnokov (Alleluia, 2009 ; Sengoku no yu, 2010 ; Concerto no.2 for choir and piano 2013). For the 2014 -2015 season, the ensemble will concentrate on the rediscovery of the French musical heritage of the 19th and 20th Century, notably by recreating and recording the works of Lili Boulanger and Théodore Dubois.
