Talent show at St Jean de Passy (Paris)
January 23rd, 2015

My name is Eliott and I am currently in my first year of Lycée (eleventh grade / sixth-form) at St Jean de Passy in Paris. I have always loved music and have been playing with a friend of mine, Hubert, ever since we were little. When our earth-sciences teacher, Mrs Heissat, spoke to us about Shanthi Bhavan Children’s Home, we came up with the idea of putting on an event that would raise funds for the orphanage while also sharing our passion for music. So with the help of Mrs Heissat and the educatiion team at our school we set out to organise the “Pondicherry Talent Show“. We invited our entire year group as well as the final, senior year above to both help us put on the show and volunteer to share their talents. We asked each participant and member of the audience to simply give whatever they felt they could towards helping the children who are HIV-positive. There were a large number of students who were very touched by our appeal and came to offer their talent and help in organising the event, making the whole thing a great experience. The show brought in more than 200 people, around 20 artists (musicians, dancers, magicians, etc.) and we were able to raise more than 800 € for the Association. We are now looking forward to organising another show next year, with the hope of raising even more! Eliott and Hubert
